on siblings and such

April 11, 2013

So I would have never known today was National Sibling Day in the US.
UNTIL my precious sister, Hope(rs) posted this photo collage. It just made my day.
Can I just give a shout out to you, Hopers?
Thank you for staying in touch with me thru pictures and letters so well.
I love you so much.
This top picture…I dont know…was I a freshman in college?
I think so.
You know how I remember?
Because a best friend, Diana, brought me back really cool earrings from Nicaragua and those are what I am wearing.
How do I remember those things? I have no idea. But I do. And that is how I know. So this was circa 2004.
And I remember certain seasons where I straightened my bangs…just the bangs…not the back.
Goodness, why did I do that?
I had some really cool, hip friends too.
And no one ever told me;) Or maybe they offered to “do my hair” a few times, and that was their way of hinting?;) haha.
Anyways…
HAPPY SIBLINGS DAY;)

And this is us a few years down the road;) The long straight haired beauty is my cousin Molly;) Pretty much a seester;)
This photo was taken at my brother, Jennings’, graduation last year from Auburn.
He is getting married this summer!
To a lovely lady named Marisa.
We will be there and I am so thankful;)

“Youth can not know how age thinks and feels.

But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young.”

-this is from J.K. Rowling. I believe “Order of the Phoenix”

So, I am so thankful for the beautiful, hysterical siblings I had to grow up with. I love them so very much.

And now, having the gift of RAISING 2 siblings.
It is just so beautiful.
In so many ways.
So here are a few pics of our boys;)

I think Elliot was just maybe 3 weeks old here…but I am not sure. But I LOVE this pic;)

This was last week after going on a bike ride with both boys. The bike basket broke and we nearly lost Adam…and what I thought was impossible, previously, is actually possible…I CAN balance a bike in one arm with a babe on the stomach and in the other arm.

And this reveals that I rewear clothes a lot these days;) Adam and Elliot have a group of ladies in trail wherever they go;) This was from an evening walk;)

THis morning, I got these amazing pictures. I love the lighting in my room in mid morning.
Adam loves playing in the curtains…especially peek a boo.
Elliot thinks it is hysterical to sit and watch.
I think its just as wonderful to sit and watch them both;)
Whenever Adam made his sounds or jumped up and down, Elliot started that belly deep baby chuckle that is so scrumptious;)

I hope these boys have a friendship like Frodo and Sam…or David and Jonathan;)
And I hope when they are old and gray, they can remember these joys;)

Adam is a shadow chaser, high five giver, explorer, & overcomer. He joined our family thru adoption and has taught us a new way to see ever since. His unformed body revealed my unformed heart.
