One of my favorites. This is me with Adam in Aizawl, Mizoram. This is the precious woman who hosted us during the adoption process. I absolutely adore her. |
This is an email I wrote a few months ago as we continued to hear God answer prayers for Adam. As I am writing out prayers this morning I wanted to go back and read this excerpt…God is using foolishness to shame the wise. And it is beautiful.
I stand amazed at Jesus of Nazarene.
And wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned, unclean.
How marvelous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be!
How marvelous! How wonderful, is my Savior’s love for me.
I have been learning so much this week…about my selfish nature, feelings
of insecurities, lack of faith, and so much. How marvelous that God
continues to use and teach me.
So I must credit this little nugget to a sermon Ravi Zaccharias.
But have you ever read Luke 3, the
first few verses?
Let me share it with you… ” in the 15th year of the
reign of Tiberius Caesar- when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod
tetracrch of Galillee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis,
and Lysanias tetraarch of Abilene- during the high priesthood of Annas and
Caiaphas, the WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO JOHN, SON OF ZECHARIAH, IN THE
DESERT“.
Really?
Really Lord?
When all those leaders are clearly suited for
their jobs and intelligent and “religious”…your word came to the crazy
bachelor man out in the desert who wore loin cloths, or something of the
sort, and ate locusts and honey?
Why, Lord?
Paul tells us a little later…
” He chose the lowly things of the world and the despised things- and the
things that are not- to nullify the things that are, so that no one may
boast before Him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has
become for us wisdom from God- that is, our righteousness, holiness, and
redemption. Therefore, as it is written, ‘let him who boasts, BOAST IN THE
LORD” (1 Cor 1.28-31)
So in the year 2011, when there are many incredible leaders around the world,
many big pastors ready to hear from you, God used
a deformed child from a poor village
family, whom considered him worthless, to break the hearts and bring down
bended knee around the world.
Really Lord?
This little one, is that effective?
Well no, but He is. And He
is using that little one.
And it is beautiful.
Alipur, India is being
changed.
ANd from what I can tell, hearts in Jax, Tally, Bradenton,
Greenville, the UK, and many other places are being mightily encouraged by
this little life.
Prayers are being offered up constantly, tears shed, and love is being experienced deeper.
It is beautiful, is it not? For He is shaming my wisdom. And turning my gaze
to Him. True Wisdom.
End of email…isnt He good?
Back to current day: we are awaiting discharge orders;)
Continued prayers:
Wisdom for us as we care for Adam away from hospital
Continued healing for his eyes
Strength from His Spirit

In this season of Advent, your story, Adam's story,… it's the story of the Kingdom here on Earth, as it is in Heaven. And so true, it is bringing encouragement and light into a dark season. I and so many others are being blessed to follow this journey and joining it as we pray and give.
Truly a God of grace and mercy.
