Hello all;)
2 days in a row…this is exciting stuff!
I just wanted to ask you all to be lifting up a new friend, and “sister”, tonight.
We just met her today. Raja brought her home for lunch after meeting her in the hospital.
I have been trying to think of a creative Hindi name to substitute for her protection, but instead “Hadassah” keeps coming to mind. It means “myrtle tree” in hebrew, but has also a connection with the name Esther. For those of you who have read the series, “A voice in the wind”, you will know why the name choice is significant;)
Hadassah is an 18 year old Indian girl.
Her eyes are striking and bordered by gorgeous long, indian lashes.
The rest of her face is burned remains.
She was born into a large family in a state nearby.
At 7 or 8 she was sold by her parents for labor and to help the family make money.
I am still a little confused as to what happened in the years that followed until she was 14.
At 14 she was married off.
She was miserable and lost and confused and hated her life.
She attempted suicide 4 times.
Poison, hanging, and swallowing wires of light bulb.
All failed.
(HE, the Eternal One, wanted her, I believe)
The rope snapped, she woke up.
The poison and wires failed.
She then tried one last attempt to end her misery.
She covered herself in gasoline and lit herself on fire.
It succeeded in burning large portions of her body but she remained alive.
Her husband then left her around 16 years of age.
She somehow made it near here, came to know Abba Father and was grafted into that beautiful, heavenly family.
But still, it is hard.
To see the scars, daily, of what she did to herself.
To remember so much pain, rejection, being sold, and the daily pain of burn remains.
Especially in this heat that has been reaching 107 on some days.
I cannot even imagine.
It is hard for her to turn her neck side to side.
She has had 3 surgeries to release the contractures but a lot of them took place long after the burning.
Her face is covered in scar tissue and she ties a scarf around it when she walks down the street.
She is a precious girl and I cannot begin to tell you how my soul rejoiced spending time with her.
When we brought Adam out to meet her, she wept.
Sincere, loving tears.
Not tears of fear but of incredible love.
She freely held him as she cried.
He did not even fuss in her arms (he’s in a stage where very few people besides me and Raja can calm him)
She said that when she is out, even when she covers herself, people stare and she hates it.
But meeting Adam gave her heart so much rest.
She was encouraged to meet him and said she is reminded of the Hope that she has.
The Purpose that she has.
You know, its funny, when Raja takes Adam to work with him, people call him “chota doctor” (little doctor).
And he is a little therapist.
People feel comforted with him.
And he feels comforted too when people love on him well.
My friend Sarah, after meeting Adam, wrote
“Holding Adam is like holding redemption in your arms”.
That wrecked me.
He is redeemed preciousness and I was humbled to watch it played out today.
Please lift Hadassah up.
The plight of so many here is a bit overwhelming, as I know it is the whole world over.
Women are especially on their heart.
It reminds me of some reflections I had a while ago.
What do they know? anyways?
Suicide rates are drastically increasing.
WHO predicts by 2020 unipolar depression is going to be the single most common disorder producing disability.
That aches my heart.
But this world is hard.
And depression is hard to fight when surrounded by so much pain.
Pray that those affected go to the One who “binds up their wounds” and replaces ashes with crowns of beauty.
The One who, thought He knew no sin, became sin, so we could become His righteousness.
Hadassah ran to Him.
We run to Him.
Pray that many more do too.
Pray for Hadassah.

So much like the Hadassah I think about. Marked by the Lions but still shining as a daughter of the most High King. This Hadassah will too be on my heart. Such a precious sister.

My heart aches for her….praying that God restores her to a new light in Him.
