Can I tell you a Story (10)?

July 10, 2013

So this story has a few characters.
And someone else is going to share it today.
For starters, the characters are:

Melody– an old friend of mine. She worked at camp with me in Asheville, NC for a few years when I was in highschool and college. She is a beautiful free spirit and has a precious blog and shop HERE

Michelle–  a new friend. An old soul in a young beautiful lady;) She has the online vintage shop I have shared about before HERE. And she is the author of today’s story;)

Megan– a new friend thru blogs and such. She has a beautiful family and started an online company called She Does Justice. And this month Adam’s medical needs are her cause. So 10% of all profits this month goes towards Adam’s upcoming surgery.

July Cause Update…finding our story in Adam’s

JULY 10, 2013 LEAVE A COMMENT
I asked Michele, the sweet woman who introduced me to Adam’s story, to share a bit of her heart for him.
When I got this email from her I literally sat crying in the coffee shop I was at while I read through it.
It was so clear to me that I was supposed to share this post for the Live Your Story linkup this week.
I am continually blessed by this community and your willingness to partner with me to support these amazing causes. I pray that you are blessed by her words…

(from Michele…)
We have all heard the phrase ‘the Lord works in mysterious ways.’ But the Truth is in the Word. And the Word says in Ephesians: ‘Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself’ (KJV). It says He makes His mysteries known to us and that it gives Him, Lord of All, good pleasure to do so. So when the Creator saw Melody and I drive to the same canning class and befriend one another, He knew and was revealing mysteries. And when Melody introduced me to the story of the Paulraj’s, He knew and had planned and was joyful in His lifting of veils and merging of paths. It is no mistake when love or need is brought to the attention of a Child of God.
He knew lives needed to be touched and a voiceless boy had much to say and He purposed it so.
I am a lover of what I like to call ‘classic’ Christian literature. Heavy truths found in old writings by Lewis and Spurgeon and Carmichael and Elliot. And then there was Jessica Paulraj. And she wrote with authority. And she wrote with poetry and clarity. But she was not a saint of old. She was living, breathing, younger than I. She was listening to Mumford & Sons and writing a blog and posting on Instagram. And she was a mother and a wife and a friend. Adam’s story is told on her blog and I suggest you read it there. But Adam’s testimony in my life is mine to tell.
When I finally met Adam in person, I realized that his online testimony is not Adam. Yes, it is beautiful. And yes, it is true. But the real truth of Adam is that he IS. He is a toddler who loves lights and his parents. Who gets frustrated with his brother when he takes his toy. He is a high five giver. He asked me to pick him up so he could play and ordered me to keep scratching his back before he fell asleep. And as I sang him a song I often sing my niece and nephew and hit the phrase ‘and God made you’ I was struck with tears. Because Adam is not just a cause. Not just a testimony. He is a child of God. He is ME and he is YOU.
Born helpless, unformed, needing. Born with eyes, dimming. Voiceless, powerless. And then LOVE came. LOVE picked up where human failing left off. LOVE mended open wounds and broken pieces. LOVE opened eyes to light and beauty and family. LOVE spoke on behalf of words that could not come. And I ask you, am I talking about Adam’s life, or yours?
Wonderful and faithful they may be, Raja and Jessica are only people reflecting the true LOVE. And precious though he may be, and just like your little one I might add, Adam is only a baby, but GOD has made Him a vessel of the Kingdom.
And what God has begun in Adam, He will bring to completion. And I want to be a part of that work. Roots in the soil of Him and branches casting seeds into His fields.
