Can I tell you a Story (9)?

July 9, 2013

In the morning, when I rise…

I realize that picture may look staged, but I promise you it wasn’t
Truly, I had that gorgeous blanket out on the lawn
My spicy chai in tow (with biscuits to dip)
And for 2 full hours I was able to feast and journal and my heart rejoiced;)
<Sidenote: I do not know if it was from my season studying in London or my years in India….
But I MUST have a biscuit to dip in my chai (or coffee) any time of day
If I am going to a coffee shop for a bit, I even take a box with me.
I love the soggy sweetness of a dipped biscuit breaking on my tongue…
And it is perfect when you are waiting for your hot drink to cool enough to drink it>
So this morning I sat and had a good few hours
It was glorious
And I had some time to read thru a journal I write to Adam
My mom, she taught me such traditions
As I watched her and where she stores her treasures
So I started this journal a few weeks after Adam was born
It is chock full of Ebenezers
I mean really
And it did this soul really good to read them thru
So today’s story is from the pages of this journal

Dear Adam,

My precious son. Thank you. Your life has been used by our Abba to teach me more about faith and trust then I could ever say. Adam, right now you are lying in your crib and smacking your lips…in preparation for your next feeding. We are in Chapel Hill staying with an amazing family, the Seniors. We just got discharged from the hospital today after a 1 week admission.
Adam, we need $ 100,000 in week to fund the eye surgery you need. Can you believe that? This is the biggest step of faith that He has ever taken me on- to trust Him to provide. Not to trust UNC, but Him. NOt to trust money, but Him. Adam, you are the most precious addition to our family and I cannot imagine life without you now. Your big eyes and your cuddle times I value so much. You are a gift and we love you. We pray He continues to move mountains. He is your Father and only longs for what is best for you. I love you son.

Dear Adam,

Today is the day after Thanksgiving. We decided to come down to GA last minute to see our Cooksey family. We are at a beautiful state park and there is a river running right behind the cabin where we are staying. You have been so content being here as you are loved on and held by so many around you. You have been particularly active this morning and you just went with Mimi on a walk to her cabin. You make her smile so big and she just loves you so much. Your central line continues to work well. You are looking more beautiful every day and your dad and I love watching you grow. I was reading yesterday about how we can give thanks to Him, who always leads us in triumphal procession…spreading everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.  Adam, I pray you would know Him each and every day of your life. Even though you are unaware of it- many are smelling the fragrance of Him thru your life. Your dad and I continue to wait for the $100,000 needed for your eye surgery. But we have surely seen His mighty hand at work thus far and I believe we will only continue to be amazed. I know you are uncomfortable at times and it is difficult for you to sleep and rest at night. We are doing all that we can to help you with this discomfort. You are a precious son and we are beyond blessed to have you in our family.

I love you, my Adam

Well, my dear ones, we know what happened
We know that He astounded all of us with His provision
But why was I astounded?
If He already gave us HIS SON, how will He not also GRACIOUSLY GIVE US ALL THINGS?

HE is good.
He is providing.
I do not have a logistics update today.
But I know He is at work
Thanks for listening to our story…
His story really;)
The boys got a Radio Flyer wagon! This is their gangsta pose;)

Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say hello. I've loved reading about your little family. Your boys are super cute too! My son has a trach just like Adam (my son just turned 1) and I know it can take a lot of work to monitor and care for. You guys look like you're doing great and I look forward to following along here on your blog!

Adam is a shadow chaser, high five giver, explorer, & overcomer. He joined our family thru adoption and has taught us a new way to see ever since. His unformed body revealed my unformed heart.
